Case Studies

Mamadou has the makings of a very good Degree Student. His level of commitment, motivation and study skills are in place. He is an extremely pleasant and hardworking individual and would be an asset to any organisation.

Mamadou started with the college a BTEC Level 1 – IT @ Work student and despite English not being his first language and having to assist in the aid of family members, he has continually worked hard to progress with his studies. His overall efforts enabled him to skip our BTEC Level 2 programme and jump directly to our BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT. He has subsequently has successfully completed the first year the National Extended Diploma for IT Practitioners with 750 points so far with 4 Distinction, 4 Merits and 1 Pass grade so far. His Mathematics performance is markedly improved from a very poor foundation to a good standard, owing to several hours of revision. He applies Maths concepts to problem solving problems makes good judgement and very aware of expectations and standards.

It expected that he should complete with a very high overall grade at the end of this academic year. Since enrolment on this course Mamadou to be an exceptionally dedicated student, he makes a valuable contribution to each session he attends and his time keeping and attendance record has been excellent.

Mamadou is also a conscientious student with a mature attitude towards his studies, but with a friendly and helpful disposition towards others. He can work equally well as a team player or using his own initiative. He is a responsible and hardworking student. His work is well presented and of a high standard. This is supported by his management skills which are demonstrated by the timeliness of his coursework.

Mamadou has been a positive influence on the course and I would expect him to continue on this path wherever he studies. His clear and analytical mind will serve him well in his chosen career in Computer Science. Mamadou’s results mirror his pragmatic and conscientious approach to his work. He manages his own roles and responsibilities well during the course. The key to Mamadou’s success is his attendance and punctuality, which is at 98% excluded authorised absence. Mamadou has a very clear objective for his studies and wishes to succeed. He works with and relates well to other members of his peer group. He respects others’ values, beliefs and opinions and is always willing to listen to other people’s points of view. He is a strong and diplomatic leader and copes very well in difficult and demanding situations.
