"It was not easy to get a job in the engineering industry, so I continued with some short courses and agency work to get more experience. This really helped me to stand out in interviews and enabled me to secure a permanent role."

Studying for a Electrical and Electronic Engineering course at Lewisham College has allowed Omobolaji Raimi to achieve his dream career.

Now a Rail Electrical Engineer for Telent Technology Services Ltd, Omobolaji believes that he owes his success to his College lecturers who helped him to choose a direction to pursue as he finished his studies, shaping his career path.

He also values the expertise and knowledge he gained at Lewisham College, which he’s now applying in his job. “The skills I learnt during my course have really helped get me where I am today,” he says. “My technical and teamwork skills are very useful in my day-to-day work.

He says that the greatest challenge he faced was getting his foot on the first rung of the career ladder. “It was not easy to get a job in the engineering industry, so I continued with some short courses and agency work to get more experience. This really helped me to stand out in interviews and enabled me to secure a permanent role.”
