"I’m so glad I chose the path I did – studying such a vocational course at Lewisham College was great for my CV, and now I’m doing the job I always wanted to do."

Kimberley Cooper, 21 and from Bermondsey, has been working in her cabin crew job for EasyJet since August 2013.

Kimberley always knew she wanted to work in the tourism industry. Her cousin recommended Lewisham College to her and she was thrilled when she realised that the College had courses specifically for this industry.

She studied the Level 2 Resort Rep qualification at the College, getting on well with the tutors and working hard because she was doing a course she really wanted to do. Kimberley recommends the programme and says there are things she was taught on her course which she now does in her job. She also liked the tutors who were really supportive and who knew the industry as they’ve worked in it.

Having applied several times to work for EasyJet, Kimberley wasn’t succeeding because she didn’t have enough customer service experience. She solved this by getting a job working in a restaurant and getting that essential customer service experience.

She’s now been at EasyJet for eight months and is loving her job, saying: “I’m so glad I chose the path I did – studying such a vocational course at Lewisham College was great for my CV, and now I’m doing the job I always wanted to do.

“In the future I would like to be working on long-haul flights, hopefully working for Virgin Airlines.”
