Have you considered a career as a set designer costume maker prop maker scenic artist or stage manager? Or maybe you prefer lighting sound or projection design? Then our one-year Production Arts course is for you. Our exciting course will help you develop a range of creative and technical production skills required for the theatre and live performance industry. This qualification allows you to explore develop and test your creativity as a theatre maker creative practitioner or technical operator. The University of Arts London Level 3 qualification is the equivalent of 1.5 A levels and is a highly recommended route into the industry via higher education in your backstage specialism.

Entry Requirements
Applicants will need 4 GCSE qualifications at Grades 9-4 including English Language or a creative subject - Level 2 vocational qualification and a Level 2 English qualification. All applicants will have their portfolios reviewed along with any evidence of creative coursework or how they developed their technical and creative ideas. If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade 4 or above in Maths and/or English you will need to re-sit these subjects alongside your vocational qualification.
Assessment Method
You will be assessed by a combination of assignments course work observation of practical workshops and a final project.
Aims of the course
Working in collaboration with the performing art courses across the year you will learn the production process from page to stage and apply this to many of the performances experiencing all the leading roles and responsibilities. You will also participate in industry-led projects higher education site visits and workshops and numerous performances at our partner drama schools and west-end contacts. You will also gain a more profound knowledge of our creative and cultural industries as well as equality and diversity representation in the sector and develop the confidence and skills you will need to progress to the industry via drama school. Upon training with us you will join a succession of alums who are now studying at the top drama schools in the country or working professionally nationally and internationally so if you are an art media drama student member of a youth theatre and keen to explore working in production or backstage. Progression Opportunities
Past students have progressed onto BA (hon) in Stage and Events Management Scenic Arts Set Construction Lighting Design and Costume construction courses at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Royal Central School of Speech and Drama Mountview Academy London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art East 15 and Goldsmiths. Alums are now working for a range of high-profile organisations in the creative industry including The National Theatre The Young Vic Shakespeare Globe EastEnders Wimbledon Theatre The Albany Guildhall Carnival cruises and a variety of dramas made by Channel 4 BBC Apple TV Amazon Prime (Steve McQueen Small Axe Anthology) Netflix (Bridgerton) and Sky (Britannia). Successful students will be equipped to enter a number of art and design-based roles. These could include product designers illustrators sculptors sketch artists digital designers architects 3D model makers animators independent artists painters interior decorators print designers and fashion branding roles.
