Dementia is one of the leading causes of disability in later life and affects around 820 000 people in the UK. This figure will likely rise to one million by 2025 and two million by 2051. In this course we will help you develop an understanding of dementia and how to provide the necessary person-centred care to those who need it.

    Entry Requirements

    This course is suitable for a range of levels. College staff will support you at the enrolment stage to confirm your eligability for the course.

    Assessment Method

    This course offers a variety of learning methods including online assessments workbooks and engaging classroom activities to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

    Aims of the course

    In this course you will develop an awareness and understanding of dementia learn about the person-centred approach to care and support for individuals with dementia understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia explore equality diversity and inclusion in dementia care learn about administering medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach understand behaviour in the context of dementia and discover the benefits of engaging in activities in social care.

    Progression Opportunities

    Upon successful completion of this course you can progress to the Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care or the Level 3 Diplomas in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England.

Coronavirus update
