If you are keen to pursue a career in media sports journalism PR or marketing then studying for these courses could provide the perfect opportunity to pave the way for an incredible career in one of the largest entertainment industries in the world. In the classroom you will gain the fundamental skills and knowledge to be able to thrive in the field with video photography and other essential media production technologies integrated throughout the course. You will also develop your skills in communicating working collaboratively negotiating and influencing self-presentation and management adaptability and resilience self-monitoring and development. Alongside your studies you will benefit from networking with Higher Education students at Goldsmiths and undertaking unique media industry opportunities with Millwall FC and other high-profile companies allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the sports media world. This course consists of two separate qualifications. In your first year of study you will work towards the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma. Following successful completion of this qualification you will be able to progress to the Extended Diploma. Our Extended Diplomas offer equivalent UCAS points to studying 3 A Levels.

    Entry Requirements

    5 GCSE qualifications at grades A*-C or 9-4 including English Language - Level 2 vocational qualification and a Level 2 English qualification Additional information: You will have a review of your portfolio and ideally show some moderate success in the subject area. If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade 4 (that is the old Grade C) or above in Maths and/or English you will be given the opportunity to develop your skills in these subjects. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable. You will also need basic IT skills.

    Assessment Method

    You will be assessed by a combination of assignments course work observation of practical workshops and a final project.

    Aims of the course

    This course is designed to develop your knowledge technical skills and understanding for a rewarding career in a number of creative roles. The course helps you to develop more than just your creativity and expression and artistic skills you will also gain a deeper understanding of the theories and principles of creative media production. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating and demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study. This course will provide you with a sound base of skills and knowledge enhance self-confidence and an understanding of the career demands and opportunities creative media production. Learning will be through practical activities and project. You will be encouraged to explore experiment and to experience a wide range of methods to develop creativity and professional approach to learning. You will be expected to work independently on college projects outside of class time. You will go on some visits normally within college time.

    Progression Opportunities

    After successfully passing this course you will have the skills knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to a degree course at university in a related subject such as BA in Media Production into sector related work or Apprenticeship programmes within the Creative Media sector subject to successful applications.

    To offer the best experience to you we have assembled a team of industry-trained expert tutors and professional technical staff who have lifelong industry knowledge and experience. Our courses are delivered in industry style computer labs and studios including a 90-seat theatre spacious rehearsal rooms a technical theatre workshop and lighting studio The programme is delivered through a mixture of lessons workshops projects which happens in the classrooms studios off-site in trips to creative venues and businesses in projects with external partners.
