Science

In this course you will study a variety of specialist units from all three disciplines of biology chemistry and physics along with developing your skills in maths and English if you do not already have a GCSE in Grade 4. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in work experience and employability sessions.

    Entry Requirements

    To join this course you will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 or above are required including English or maths or a prior achievement at Level 1.

    Assessment Method

    Course assessment is mainly based on coursework and assignments graded in various ways including some team-based projects. Additionally there are two units assessed by external exams. English and maths assessment is through final exams.

    Aims of the course

    This course is ideal for you if you have an interest in Applied Science and aspire to pursue a career as a Science Technician. Upon completion you may consider pursuing a higher-level vocational qualification or even progress to University for further studies.

    Progression Opportunities

    Upon successful completion of this course you will have the opportunity to progress to a variety of Level 3 Science courses. You will study a range of science subjects together with some specialist options.

    Facilities

    The course content will be delivered through a combination of lectures and workshops designed to equip you with essential skills understanding and knowledge.

    Career Options

    Completing the Level 2 Applied Science qualification will expand your understanding of science and open doors to further studies in Applied Science (Applied Forensic or Medical Science) or other relevant Level 3 courses such as Engineering Health and Social Care or Sport.
