Teaching

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training course covers various topics related to education and training such as teaching roles responsibilities and relationships in the workplace inclusive teaching and learning approaches and assessment methods in education and training. This course can help you gain the necessary skills and knowledge to progress to teaching and training roles or support work in Further Education Adult Education or training providers. Lessons will take place on Tuesday evenings from 5pm - 8pm during term time only. On successful completion of the course you will be awarded with the Level 3 Award in Education and Training accredited by TQUK.

    Entry Requirements

    To enrol on this course applicants must be 19+ years old. There are no formal entry requirements although GCSE English or equivalent is desirable. Additionally applicants must have good communication skills appropriate to Level 3 and must be able to write accurately and coherently in English. Applicants without a Level 2 qualification in English will undergo a short initial assessment to determine whether they meet the required level of literacy skills required for this course.

    Assessment Method

    Candidates are assessed through a series of short written assignments classroom tasks and completion of a micro-teach session.

    Aims of the course

    This is an introductory course which will provide an overview and understanding of the role of a teacher the skills required and what it is like to work in Further Education and other adult learning environments. It provides some of the basic knowledge and skills necessary for candidates who would like to progress into teaching training or other roles in Further Education and the adult learning sector.

    Progression Opportunities

    This qualification will help candidates to progress into employment and various career opportunities such as teachers trainers and support workers in the Further Education and adult learning sector. It can lead to progression onto further teaching and training qualifications such as the Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learning and Skills and Assessor and Quality Assurance awards.

    Facilities

    The programme consists of face-to-face lessons and workshops as well as access to online interactive materials and resources. Learners will have access to computers and other resources in the Learning Centre and through Microsoft Teams.

    Career Options

    On successful completion of the course you can apply for teaching training or support work roles in Further Education adult education or training providers.
