This course is designed for learners that have an interest in nail services or beauty therapists who wish to further their skills or complete CPD qualifications.

    Entry Requirements

    You must have a manicure qualification or studied basic manicure previously. Learners should be working at Level 1 English minimum and Entry 3 for maths learners may find this beneficial if they have already achieved a Level 1 qualification in the beauty sector. Learners should posess good communication skills a keen interest in the subject area and good dexterity (hand-eye coordination) You will have an informal chat with a tutor before enrolling.

    Assessment Method

    Practical skills will be assessed when carrying out nail enhancement treatment on a model and completion of an end of unit test which will be graded pass or refer. Please note you may be asked to provide your own model. Please remove any nail extensions or gel polish prior to the course. You will also undertake a multiple-choice end of unit test. You will need to attend in a salon tunic or black top and black trousers or leggings. A kit is required for this course as it is recommended to practice at home. The approximate cost of the nail enhancement kit is £70.00 and it will be required to be purchased before the start of the course. The Beauty industry has an accepted dress code and all students will be expected to comply with these standards of dress when working in the Beauty Salon. No jewellery or acrylic nails are allowed. You will also be required to carry out treatments on your peers.

    Aims of the course

    You will develop your skills in nail enhancement using liquid and power to cosmetically improve or camouflage nails using sculpting techniques tip application. The ability to tailor the service and aftercare advice to suit individual client needs is also required.

    Progression Opportunities

    This course provides learners with the opportunity to develop skills to study other short courses such as manicure and nails treatment. Learners can progress onto further courses in Make Up or Beauty Therapy.
