Lewisham College Hospitality Hub hosted their first Hospitality Jobs and Careers Fair as part of a recruitment campaign for the sector in the borough. Over thirty employers hosted Have a Go stands at the Fair, meeting over 400 young people and adults interested in the job vacancies they are currently advertising across Lewisham. Visitors were also able to hear more about training programmes available at the Hub, designed to help adults get back into work.

Lewisham College hosted the Springboard FutureChef final at its training kitchens, where young chefs from local secondary schools competed for first place in the final and the chance to join Springboard's employability programme.

Lewisham College hosted the annual Forterra Apprentice Challenge in bricklaying, with apprentices from various companies competing for first place. The competition consisted of bricklaying apprentices from companies from all over the UK, building a standard wall-header bond wall with detailed white bricks with a particular feature, LC for Lewisham College.

Teachers from Turkey, Greece and Italy visited Lewisham College as part of Erasmus+ Programme designed to help raise awareness and tackle Climate Change. Teachers attended Lewisham College for the project, ‘Change Yourself, Not Nature’, to hear from learners raising awareness on Climate Change. During their visit, they also got an insight into the level of teaching and standards in England.

Learners in the Supported Learning Skills for Performing Arts course at Lewisham College performed Zones, a winter production showcasing their acting, dancing, movement, writing and costume-making skills. The show included a play and a music gig produced in collaboration with Rose Bruford College.

Coronavirus update

Lewisham College is closely monitoring all communications and guidance as it becomes available. This information is for students and staff and reflects updates from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Public Health England (PHE). We are prepared to escalate our contingency arrangements in the event of change.

The government is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to work with the WHO and international community. For staff and students it remains business as usual across our sites and our workplaces.
