ESOL students raised over £600 in a Foodie Fundraiser for the Ruth Hayman Trust.

Cupcakes, fruit cakes, savory muffins, pasta, and rice dishes were among the variety of foods sold to students at Lewisham College, with long queues that resulted in some foods being sold out within 30 minutes.

The Ruth Hayman Trust is a charity that awards small grants to support the education and training of adults who have come to settle in the UK, speak English as a second or other language and have difficulty paying for their studies.

Demonstrating their culinary skills, the students raised £311, which with matched funding meant over £600 was raised for the charity.

Asfa Sohail, Principal at Lewisham College, said: “I am so pleased to see the level of funds raised for such a great charity. It was great to see the level of passion and support for the local community being represented in our College.”
