Lewisham College recently participated in the 5th annual NCG National Skills Competition, hosted at Carlisle College. The event saw talented learners from across six NCG colleges, including Lewisham, competing in various practical skill challenges linked to their study area.
The competition offered a platform for learners from Carlisle College, Newcastle College, Newcastle Sixth Form College, West Lancashire College, Kidderminster College and Lewisham College.
The learners came together to demonstrate their expertise in fields such as carpentry, electrical work, hairdressing, culinary arts, beauty, joinery, plastering, and plumbing. Art and Design was also added to the competition this year as a new category.
NCG Skills is modelled on WorldSkills and aims to prepare learners for national competitions. It allows them to be judged by industry professionals and network with peers, employers, and industry experts.
Lewisham College was proud to have a selection of fantastic learners representing the College in the competition. Javier Delgadillo Garcia competed in the Culinary Arts category, Abbie Jones and Naia Le Roux entered the Art and Design category, Miheala Blaguta and Daniela Tifui took part in the Hair category, and Anna Golding took part in the Beauty category.
There was particular joy for the College's Art & Design faculty, with learners Abbie and Naia announced as the overall winners of this category.
Lewisham College is proud to be part of NCG, one of the country's leading college groups, and support NCG's mission to ‘enable social mobility and economic prosperity through exceptional education.’
