Lewisham College welcomed Investment 20/20 to deliver a talk on careers in Investment Management to learners on Business and IT courses. The workshop covered various aspects of the investment industry, including how investment and asset management companies operate, the different career paths available, and how learners can stand out when applying for apprenticeships and traineeships.

Investment 20/20 also invited Holly Baker and Samane Malek, both applicants of Investment 20/20 who secured roles across investment management organisations, to speak about their experiences. The presentation concluded with a Q&A session, where learners could ask the professionals about their career journeys and their roles within their respective companies.

Samane Malek, investment management apprentice said: “I was hired through Investment 20/20, and it has been a pleasure today to come and speak to learners at Lewisham College about my experience. I came from a different country to study in London and graduated with a degree in Engineering but was struggling to land a job. As I feel deeply about the leadership at Investment 20/20 and how they have helped me, it has inspired me to encourage other potential candidates to make the first step of applying with them.”

Ashley Truzzi, studying Level 3 Business at Lewisham College said: “Today's presentation from Investment 20/20 was super helpful! Learning about careers in investment management has been motivational. I look forward to making an application with them as I aim to become a Chief Financial Officer someday.”

Noorya Sahebzadeh, studying Level 3 Business said: “I enjoy business and aspire to work in this field, particularly finance. Today’s workshop has given me a greater understanding on how apprenticeships work, and which ones are available in the investment management industry. I feel inspired and hopeful for a supportive and great career.”

Jamie Stevenson, Principal at Lewisham College, said: “We were pleased to welcome representatives from Investment 20/20 who shared insights into career opportunities in investment management with our Business and IT learners. We’re proud of our learners for actively engaging in this enriching workshop. It is a testament to their commitment to exploring and shaping their future careers. Witnessing such enthusiasm among young people reaffirms the value of initiatives that connect them with real-world opportunities.

"At Lewisham College, we are committed to supporting our learners in navigating their career paths. Workshops of this nature offer them a valuable opportunity to explore potential career options within reputable organisations relevant to their fields of interest and acquire the knowledge needed to make informed decisions regarding their future endeavours in education or employment."

Investment 20/20 is a social enterprise that helps school leavers and graduates from diverse backgrounds enter careers within the investment management industry and access work placements.
