Mary Fudge and a group of students

Lewisham College welcomed learners from across the borough to its annual University and Apprenticeships Fair. The event aimed to provide learners with valuable insights into their options after college, featuring a diverse range of university and apprenticeship programmes.

The fair attracted more than 500 students, who explored stalls showcasing universities, training providers, and employers. Representatives from over 35 institutions were present, to explain the opportunities available to learners, these included Northeastern University London, Canterbury Christ Church University, Point Blank Music School, Barclays Bank, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, and many more.

At the fair, Lewisham College’s learners had the opportunity to engage with university representatives, ask questions about courses and student life, while also learning about the benefits of apprenticeships.

Goldsmiths University representative, Megan Bastable said “It’s been fantastic, I always find that Lewisham College is one of the busiest fairs that I go to and it’s also really nice to speak to a really broad range of learners, whether they’re at Level 1or Level 3, and give them advice about whether they can get to university or an apprenticeship.”

Students expressed enthusiasm for the event, Abu Baker Malik, a Level 3 IT course student said "I found the university and apprenticeships fair at Lewisham College valuable. The fair provided me with a clear overview of all the opportunities I was interested in, making it easy to connect with universities and potential employers and explore various paths for my future. This experience gave me the direction and insights I needed to take the next steps in my education and career journey."

The University and Apprenticeships Fair at Lewisham College is part of the institution’s ongoing commitment to helping learners make informed decisions about their futures, ensuring they are well-equipped to pursue their chosen paths.
