Umbrella Training, a leading UK training and apprenticeship provider, visited Lewisham College during National Apprenticeship Week to deliver a taster session to learners and present apprenticeship opportunities in the Hospitality and Tourism industries.
During the session, learners had the opportunity to learn more about the organisation and the apprenticeship schemes offered by Umbrella Training, which include catering, front of house, management, events, learning and learning development and human resources. They also participated in an interactive gaming activity, an apprenticeship and industry Q&A and a taster session where they learned to make a classic pie.
Abdullahi Mohamud, a learner at Lewisham College, said: "I found the session very helpful. It was interesting to see how a pie pastry is made, the techniques used and how carefully details are added. In addition, it was interesting to hear about the different apprenticeship opportunities from industry professionals and learn more about the application process. I will consider this as a next step after completing my course at the College."
